"Race: Biological Reality or Social Construct?"
Thursdays at 4PM in Room 1116, Institute for Physical Science and Technology (IPST)

Robin Andreasen - Sept 20 University of Delaware

Abstract
Race was once thought to be a real biological kind. Today, however, the dominant view is that objective biological races don? exist. I challenge this trend by arguing that cladism, in conjunction with current work in human evolution, provides a new way to define race biologically. I also discuss some ways that the cladistic race concept challenges common sense beliefs about the biological reality of race.
